WT1+ glomerular parietal epithelial progenitors promote renal proximal tubule regeneration after severe acute kidney injury
Lineage tracing and single-cell sequencing in a mouse model of severe acute kidney injury supported the contribution of WT1-positive glomerular parietal epithelial progenitor cells to proximal tubule regeneration.
What this study examined
- Mouse ischemia–reperfusion injury, conditional gene knockout and lineage tracing
- Newly formed tubular cells showed albumin uptake at the 30-day stage
Why the study matters
Tracing where repair begins: identifying WT1-positive progenitor cells that contribute to proximal tubule regeneration.
